Common questions
What can an IP lookup show?
An IP lookup can usually show the network provider, approximate location, ASN, and other public routing details tied to an address. It is useful for quick troubleshooting, abuse review, and basic network research.
Why can the IP location be different from the real person or device?
Geolocation data is only an estimate. Traffic may pass through a VPN, mobile carrier gateway, office network, CDN, or another provider edge that is registered in a different city or even a different country.
Can I look up a private IP address here?
No. Private IPv4 ranges such as 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, and 172.16.x.x to 172.31.x.x are used inside local networks and are not routable on the public internet, so they do not have the same public lookup records.
Do you support IPv6 lookups?
Not yet. IPv6 lookup support is not available right now, but we are building quickly and expect to launch this feature very soon.
